Scale build up can dramatically shorten the service life of the heating system.  Unless hard water is treated it scales up the boiler heat exchanger’s pipework and immersion heating elements.  The water channels become narrowed; therefore energy is lost and the storage tanks lose their capacity to store hot water efficiently. 

This means that you will use more energy than you actually need to in order to heat your home and hot water. 

We strongly recommend that boilers are serviced annually to maintain their guarantee in line with the manufacturers' terms and conditions.
